Families are complicated systems with each member playing a role in how the family unit functions. Changes in one member cannot help but impact the whole family. Whether it be a natural life transition such as an adolescent entering teenhood or an unexpected significant event like illness, families can struggle to find new ways of relating to each other. Therapy can create a safe space for family members to talk about uncomfortable feelings; allowing each other to lean in for emotional support and acceptance.
